What is the danger

The plastic cord of the product contains an excessive amount of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), (measured values: up to 5.5% by weight). This phthalate may harm the health by causing possible damage to the reproductive system. The metal (solder) in the product contains an excessive amount of lead (measured value up to: 37.4% by weight). The (plastic material of) the product contains short chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) (measured value up to 0.29 % by weight).

Requirements breached

The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation, with the Commission Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS 2 Directive) and with the Regulation on persistent organic polutants (POP Regulation).
